Me, June 24, 1995

Yep, that's me on my wedding day back in 1995.  I received my BFA in Photography just 3 years before this was taken. With time you forget things, and then you see a photograph and it all comes flooding back. I can now remember that day like it was yesterday. In fact, I can almost smell the stephanotis in my bouquet right now. I remember the ordinary room I was sitting in and my skepticism that the photographer could create something beautiful in this modest room. I also recall my surprise when I first saw this image printed.  I was so impressed with how my photographer took such an extraordinary photograph in such an ordinary setting. I learned a lot from him that day. This photograph is my favorite portrait of me from that day.  It's the one that my grandchildren will have, and the one they will pass down to their children.

Fast forward and here I am, married for over 20 years, mother of a wonderful son, and a professional portrait and fine art photographer for over 25 years. Wedding photography is an extension of my fine art and documentary photography. I want the viewer to feel the emotions of the people and sense the ambiance of the environments I photograph. I approach a wedding as a storyteller, and I write that story with my photographs.
